ABOUT US

We are two mums who have both worked in the fashion industry all our lives, juggling many plates and wearing many hats! We met at the school gate in the beautiful market town of Southwell in Nottinghamshire.

We both always ended up discussing our love of fashion and style, but wanted to inspire a better way to wear, buy and appreciate clothes. The rest is history as we joined forces with a view to create a community of like minded women who share similar values. We both have extensive experience in all areas of the industry including design, fabric, merchandising, styling and brand management - with a constant drive to become experts in sustainable fashion.

Sarah

I am Sarah. I am the corporate strategic one who makes lots of lists and loves a spreadsheet! I graduated in fashion design and spent many happy years working for some great high street and designer brands.

When I became a mum I side stepped in to brand management and retail operations working with Touker Suleyman of Dragons Den fame. I worked with him on two premium brands - Ghost and Hawes & Curtis, and after learning so much I finally realised my dream to launch Conscious Closet. Alongside our business I now work with Nottingham Trent University as a fashion lecturer, which is a great chance to share my experience with those entering the industry, and consult on sustainable brand projects. I love my family, my dog, and wearing dresses. Oh and I can talk about fashion forever!!

Lisa

I am Lisa. I graduated with a Business/Spanish degree and my final thesis was on textiles and the environment. I love fashion and started importing fabrics & clothing from Bali at a young age. I worked for some time at the Karen Millen flagship store in Covent Garden and went onto work with a world renowned textiles agency in London.

Eventually I set up my own agency & continued to collaborate with some of the best Italian and French fabric mills. Working with customers like Burberry, Victoria Beckham, Paul Smith, Stella MCcartney and many of the top end high street stores and designers.

Having seen the waste and negative impact that the industry has had on our environment over the years, we now aim to help the fashion forward woman consume mindfully. By providing her with the tools and know-how to continue to have a stylish wardrobe and by choosing to "Rent, Swap, Mend, Edit & Style".

It’s important to us that our products and services are always produced with less wasteful methods in mind and for our customers to know that whilst remaining on trend these factors are always at the core of our business.
